Dora Scotto Lavina grew up on the island of Procida, Italy, it is there that she takes her greatest source of inspiration. Around the islands of the Gulf of Naples (Southern Italy) Ischia, Procida and Vivara there is the Kingdom of Neptune, a protected marine area rich in plant and animal species. The islet of Vivara, attached to the island of Procida, currently uninhabited, is a state nature reserve. Its coastline is also included in the Kingdom of Neptune Marine Protected Area.
